The complete three-book series

In one handsome collector’s edition hardcover, here are all three novels that comprise Terry Brooks’s bestselling High Druid of Shannara trilogy—Jarka Ruus, Tanequil, and Straken. These thrilling novels demonstrate this acclaimed author’s magic of invention and mastery of storytelling.

Twenty years have passed since Grianne Ohmsford denounced her former life as the dreaded Ilse Witch. Fulfilling the destiny predicted for her, she has established the Third Druid Council and dedicated herself to its goals of peace and defense of the Four Lands. But the intrigue, treachery, and sinister deeds that have haunted Druid history for generations continue to thrive. And despite her devotion to the greater good as Ard Rhys, the High Druid of Paranor, Grianne still has bitter enemies who will stop at nothing to see her deposed—or destroyed.

As wicked plots are hatched, the Ard Rhys suddenly disappears in the dead of night and without a trace. Now, barely a step ahead of the malevolent forces at work, Grianne’s brave nephew, Pen Ohmsford, embarks on a dangerous mission to find and deliver the High Druid of Shannara from wherever she may be held.

With Grianne missing, her enemies seek to make their dominion over the Four Lands absolute. Their plans could all be undone if Pen rescues his aunt. As Pen nears completion of his arduous trial, and as Grianne fights for her life in an inescapable prison, forces of darkness and light battle for the right to rule.

With no shortage of adventure, exhilaration, suspense, and enchantment, the High Druid of Shannara trilogy proves why Terry Brooks is one of the most beloved fantasy authors of all time.

  1. Any additional details/information on the referenced Legacy of Shannara trilogy would be much anticipated and appreciated!

    • Here is what we know from what Terry has said in the past:

      • The trilogy will take place around 100 years after Straken.
      • It will feature Khyber, Grianne Ohmsford, and Tael Riverine — and not as you expect.
      • The focus of the trilogy will be a hunt for the lost Elfstones from Faerie.

That’s about it. The first book is written and edited. I’m actually reading it right now. Terry is about six chapters into Book II. We will be announcing the first book’s title sometime in August. The first book will be published in August 2012 with a chance that the next two books will be published at six month intervals. More on all of this as it becomes available.

  2. Will Legacy of Shannara all be hardcover? I am not clear. Any and all information is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

  3. I’m curious as to what order all the Shannara series should be read does everything start with the word and void series then go to the genesis series. Are they like the beginning to the first king of shannara.

    P.S
the Shannara series is awesome I cant get enough thanks for all the hard work you put into these stories

  4. I just won a Nook from our local library. Of course, my first purchase was “Measure”. What fun. I can’t wait for the next one! Thanks again for a wonderful voyage.

  5. I have the original hard covers so unless the story has changed I won’t be getting the new complete series…also I am still upset of one character dying in the sequel when in the first series it was stated he would be king….so, no mention about him…or as to why he died
