Got a look at the finished centerfold by Todd Lockwood for the upcoming Wards of Faerie. All in color and stunning. Been a long time getting this done, but it is part of the promise I made to bring back a mini-revival of the old Sword of Shannara look. The centerfold is a great start. The interior art mapping Paranor by David Cherry is pretty cool, too. Some of it was used in World of Shannara, but we have done some updating on the specifics. Russ Charpentier has created an entire new map of the Four Lands which will sprawl over the end flaps of the book and give new dimension and a clearer vision of what everything past and present lies. We left out a few things for space, but you won’t miss much. The cover art was my idea. I read the comments on the web. Some guesses and speculation about what’s going on with the split coin; some concerns about the choice of image. What I can tell you is that of the story. The struggle for supremacy between magic and science continues to grow. The coin reflects all this, as a few have guessed. But it reflects something else important, as well. I’ll tell you about it when we get closer to pub date (August 21, 2012). The release dates for the books are at six month intervals – August 2012, March 2013 and August 2013. All three books due out in a 12 month period. This may only happen once. All of it. Happy 35th Shannara Anniversary to all of you.

I’m very excited. The fact that we have to wait for six months, in between books, is nothing short of amazing. Hey, it only happens once, but in cases like these, it is still awesome to be a fan of Terry Brooks and to follow. I, for one, am looking forward to reading the next chapter in the world of Shannara. That and the 35th Anniversary as well!
I am truely looking forward to reading this latest work of yours. Since the begining I have been a fan. Sometimes as a fan it was hard to wait for the next book to come out, but then again it was a real treat when it did.
I have just fininshed re-reading the entire Shannara series and am now working on the Landover series.
I cannot wait to see this book and also the 35th anniversary release of the Sword with all those annotations.
You always give us something to look forward to……
Every time you publish a new book I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning and your book is the surprise gift. Thanks for the giving us so many Christmas surprises in a row. 🙂
I have goosebumps just thinking about it…
It has been so long since a new Shannara world map… 😮
Thank you so very much Mr. Brooks. I cannot wait to get my hands on your upcoming books.
TB, i just finished reading the two Legends of Shannara books. It took me two days to finish them, i know its a long time. Just wanted to let you know I’m counting the days till Wards of Faerie is released. Also would like to thank you for your autograph. My daughter was kind to frame it over a copy of your first map. its beautiful!
