When I began my Terry Brooks dedication website in 1996, the internet was still in its infancy. Everything had to be hand-coded. I learned a great deal but we didn’t have the fancy bells and whistles we have now. These days, my day is made so much easier and I’m thankful for that.
So is Terry. Earlier this week, he took part in a video chat with authors Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, and Cherie Priest. They spent over an hour talking about the fantasy genre and how to tell a great story. Terry enjoyed himself immensely and was pleased by the turnout.
With The Annotated Sword of Shannara publishing on November 13, 2012, we have another opportunity to put technology to work. Terry is not touring for the book—he is instead spending time with the next Shannara book, which is a stand alone, by the way—but we are thinking about doing something special for it. We haven’t done an online chat in over a year and it’s time. But this time, we want to use the Google+ video technology.
Fans could write their questions into the chat box and Terry would answer them on a live video feed from his writing office!
Is this something you’d like to attempt? Would you attend? It would have to be around 8:00 pm EDT / 5:00 pm PDT, which means many of the UK fans might not be able to make it and get a good night’s sleep unfortunately.

Although I would prefer to see Terry in person I know with his schedule that is not always possible. This would be the next best thing.
OMG this would be brilliant! Count me in!
I think this would be amazing, though I don’t have Google+. Would it be possible for it to be posted afterward?
Love the idea since his signing tour hasn’t worked out timing wise for me to go. I don’t have Google+ though. Last thing I need is yet another social site.
This is a great idea, and i would love to be able to post a question. However i also don’t have Google+ , and it seems that a lot of people actually don’t.
It’s easy to sign up for a Google + account and Goole possesses the technology we need to make this happen. Not much of a choice I’m afraid.
Most definitely. I think a video chat with Terry will be a great opportunity. Count me in as one of the many viewers I am sure will be in attendance for the video chat.
I like the other answers. Dead inside makes me laugh. This is why Terry is my favorite author! 🙂
