Witch Wraith, the concluding volume in The Dark Legacy of Shannara trilogy, is now published in fine bookstores!

That’s right! It’s time to read!

In my opinion, it is an amazing book wrapping up a great series. There is a scene in Witch Wraith that, once read, I couldn’t continue. I put the book down for an entire week, the scene chilling and haunting. The final book in Dark Legacy also has some of the most touching moments Terry has written and it wraps up many threads that began in The Elfstones of Shannara, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara and High Druid of Shannara. I’m excited for you all to finally read it!

Here is a bit more about Witch Wraith:

From New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks comes the final thrilling novel in a brand-new trilogy—The Dark Legacy of Shannara!

For centuries the Four Lands enjoyed freedom from its demon-haunted past, protected by magic-enhanced borders from the dark dimension known as the Forbidding and the profound evil imprisoned there. But now the unthinkable is happening: The ancient wards securing the barrier between order and mayhem have begun to erode—and generations of bloodthirsty, monstrous creatures, fueled by a rage thousands of years in the making, are poised to spill forth, seeking revenge for what was done to them.

Young Elf Arling Elessedil possesses the enchanted means to close the breach and once more seal the denizens of the Forbidding in their prison. But when she falls into the hands of the powerful Federation’s diabolical Prime Minister, her efforts may be doomed. Only her determined sister, Aphen, who bears the Elfstones and commands their magic, has any hope of saving Arling from the hideous fate her captor has in store.

Meanwhile, Railing Ohmsford—desperate to save his imprisoned brother—seeks to discover if his famed but ill-fated ancestor Grianne is still alive and willing to help him save the world . . . no matter the odds or the consequences.

  1. Terry’s having a long night in slc signing lots of books. The man is a machine. Waiting for #359 to be called…..the store is closing. But Terry keeps going and going….

  2. I read the Sword at the beginning of this year. I had never seen any of Terry’s books before that, and I have read 29 of them (the whole Shannara series apart from the 4 short stories I couldn’t find) between then and now.
Lots to like, some to get frustrated about. A retribution in those books takes quite some time to come but normally it would find those who deserved it – and there would be something to celebrate for the “good guys” and to justify their efforts and sacrifices.
In that respect, the Dark Legacy is an utter disappointment 🙁
It should have been a straightforward quest that would save the Races and cause the Child of Light her sister. Instead it was turned into a mass slaughter where so many worthy beings died for absolutely nothing as the lost Stones didn’t play any part in the main quest. And even the retribution came at such a cost that it barely mattered any more…
