The High Druid’s Blade by Terry Brooks will publish March 11, August 2014 in the US and the UK! It is the first stand-alone novel in Shannara since the publication of First King of Shannara, one of three stand-alone novels that will be published in the Defenders of Shannara series. These three books will lead into the concluding Shannara trilogy that Terry plans to write in the next few years.

I have always loved this series. it is one that has brought my son and I together. We have been reading this series since he was a teenager and always look forward to the next installment. He is 26 now and we both agree that as usual we can tell this one will be no less exciting and interesting than all the others. It will be sad to see it end.

I am sad to see this series come to an end…my daughter’s name is Amberle. It was chosen 1 1/2 years before she was born. Enough Said. Many good nights spent in front of a fire reading! Thank You for sharing your storytelling talents!
I have been reading Terry Brooks since i was a Sophmore in High School Back in 1993. for me it started with The Elfstones of Shannara, and ever since than i have been collecting Terry’s Shannara Books and have read them over and over and i can’t get enough, i learn something more everytime i read them or i notice something i didnt realize before.
I just can’t wait for more! Thank you so much, Shawn, for posting the first two chapters. This will actually be the first hard back I will ever own. I so look forward to having it in my greedy little hands. 🙂 Paxon will probably be another favorite character.
