The High Druid’s Blade publishes on July 8, 2014!
It is the first stand alone book in the Shannara series since First King of Shannara, a tale that is complete unto itself.
It is a very different kind of story for Terry. Whereas he wrote epic, epic, epic into the Dark Legacy of Shannara trilogy, Terry has decided to tell a far more personal story, featuring Paxon Leah as the principle character. I found it refreshing to be largely in one character’s point of view for most of the book; the reader really gets to know Paxon and, through him, how difficult it can be to be a part of his family’s legacy
Terry is not doing an extensive tour for The High Druid’s Blade. He is in the middle of writing Book 3 in the Defenders of Shannara series and he is also taking care of business where Hollywood is concerned. Important matters, for sure.
But for right now, here are details for the rest of Terry’s 2014:

Eagerly awaiting next novel, safe travels Terry!
Thank you for all the posts Shawn! The family that plays together stays together.
Hi Shawn – is the online event at 5pm Pacific time? Thanks! Scott
Yes, 5 PM Pacific Time.
I wish I could make it to Portland again in July. My famil is planning another trip there next year if Terry does another signing at Powells.
How is this a stand alone book when it is part of a trilogy? Just wondering.
The word trilogy is misused by almost all fantasy fans. An actual trilogy is NOT a single story broken up into three parts. A trilogy is three stand alone books that have some interweaving aspect to them. SWORD, ELFSTONES, and WISHSONG are a trilogy because of Allanon, for instance.
The High Druid’s Blade is a stand alone book. The story wraps up. But there is an interweaving aspect to all three books in Defenders of Shannara. Make sense?
It does a bit, but what would you call The Dark Legacy of Shannara there a story broken up, or The Lord of the Rings Books that was one story broken into 3 books?thanks for your answers.
Lord of the Rings isn’t a true trilogy. It’s one story split up into thirds. But this new series from Terry is a true trilogy — three stand alone books that have a single interwoven commonality in all three.
I never knew that. Thanks Shawn!
WAHHHHH!!!! i cant get to Melbourne for October 🙁
this makes me so very very sad……..
I would love to meet Terry.
come to Perth?
Any plans on coming to Sydney while you are in Australia?
We hope to have tour stop dates soon IF they happen. More soon!
I ordered High Druid’s Blade late last year, with publishing date set for 8 July, how soon till book is shipped?
If you are talking about a signed copy from The Signed Page, Terry is signing this week and I will begin shipping by the weekend. It just depends where your order falls.
Thanks for the update and yes, order was placed in the Signed Page. V/r Scott
Why is there no geneaology map in the UK print?
any chance Terry will be coming to the SF Bay Area in CA anytime in the near future?
Terry has no plans to be in the San Fran area, at least not this year. The next time he will tour is July 2015 for the release of The Darkling Child. We’ll know the tour for that sometime in May or June. Cheers!
