The Darkling Child by Terry Brooks is publishing on June 9th from the UK as well! And here is the cover for it!

I love the blue. Has a dark look to it, just like its US counterpart. And the book is dark. Terry has written a wonderful and terrible look at the wishsong and I for one loved it.

Here is the dust jacket summary for the UK’s The Darkling Child:

From the New York Times bestselling Terry Brooks comes a brand new stand-alone fantasy novel – perfect for both seasoned fans and those discovering the thrilling world of Shannara for the first time.

After taking up his enchanted sword against the dark sorcerer Arcannen, Paxon Leah has become the sworn protector of the Druid order. Now a critical hour is at hand, as duty summons him . . .

In a distant corner of the Four Lands, the magic of the wishsong has been detected. Paxon must accompany a Druid emissary to find its source – and ensure that the formidable power is not wielded by the wrong hands.

In a fearsome clash between mortal might and black magic, it is up to Paxon, as the High Druid’s Blade, to defend the people of the Four Lands against a perfidious evil.

The Darkling Child by Terry Brooks publishes on June 9, 2015!

In the US and the UK!

  1. That is one of best looking covers I’ve seen on Terry’s books. Glad to hear it’s a dark story . The clear white cover on Ilse Witch is my favorite.

  2. on the The DEFENDERSof SHANNARA THE HIGH DRUIDS BLADE when are the other books coming out?

  3. I may have missed something in a previous but if the wishsong is a feature of The Darkling Child, would that make the wielder a descendant of the Ohmsfords?
