I am attending this week’s New York Comic Con.
My wife Kristin is coming with me and it will be her first time to New York, making this an extra special trip. But flying across the entire country from Seattle is more work than pleasure. And we will be working hard both for Penguin Random House and MTV.
What are we doing? I am the long-time webmaster for author Terry Brooks. His novel, The Elfstones of Shannara, is being adapted into a live-action TV series for MTV. 10 episodes have been filmed. The show will air in January 2016. Like me, Terry is attending NYCC. Along with showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar (Spider-Man 2, Smallville), executive producer Dan Farah, director Jonathan Liebesman and several members of the cast who are flying in from all over the world just for this launch of The Shannara Chronicles.

Author Terry Brooks will be joined by Manu Bennett (Allanon), Poppy Drayton (Amberle), and Ivana Baquero (Eretria) for a signing at the Del Rey Books/Random House booth (#2205) for one hour. Only 150 tickets for this signing will be raffled on Thursday and Friday (see details above)!

SATURDAY
Alongside bestselling Shannara author Terry Brooks, show runners Al Gough and Miles Millar and the director and cast from the forthcoming TV series will share stories about how The Shannara Chronicles came to life—and will show the first full-length trailer! Seating will be limited to 2,200 seats!

A super-exclusive screening event will be held for 50 (really) lucky fans on Saturday, October 10. Wannabe attendees will be able to win tickets throughout the weekend at the aforementioned “Shannara” events!

Kristin and I will be taking pictures. A lot of them. We will be covering The Shannara Chronicles panel on Saturday, taking video and Periscoping it if we have proper wi-fi. We will be interviewing Terry, any cast members we can snag, and fans of the novels!
