Terry Brooks On THE BIG BANG THEORY – Sort Of
On January 5, 2016, The Shannara Chronicles premieres on MTV.
It’s not apparently the first time executive producer and author Terry Brooks’s name will hit network TV. Last week, on November 5th, The Big Bang Theory featured the interior of Howard and Bernadette’s home, the house he grew up in. In the episode, The Spock Resonance, Bernadette threatens to remodel the house. The furniture, the wall paper, the carpet—all of it smacks of Howard’s deceased mother.
All I can say is, Howard’s overbearing mother had great taste in literature, although the book could very well be Howard or Bernadette’s. What book, you ask? Look closely through the secretary bookcase’s glass doors.

If you click on the image and look at a larger version of it, you’ll see it more clearly.
The hardcover is placed protectively behind glass among other important books and heirlooms of the Wolowitz family. I always wonder how these kinds of props get onto a TV show. In this case, is there a Shannara fan on-set? Or is this a nod to the forthcoming The Shannara Chronicles? Or did someone just go to a bookstore and grab a book that looked “geek?” I have no idea.
Needless to say, a few fans pointed this out to me. Glad they found it!

With more Terry Brooks!
