shannara-tomorrow

That’s right, Shannara fans! The Shannara Chronicles premieres tomorrow, January 5th, at 10/9c on MTV! In the United States and Canada!

It also premieres in a number of places on January 6th. Click HERE to take a look at those details.

And no, no UK details yet but I’m betting we hear something by the end of next week.

Get ready to have a discussion on Wednesday!

  1. It hasn’t aired yet, but let’s just get this out of the way… “It’s not as good as the book!” Lol. 😉

    • Thank you, Wendy. I am in full agreement with you. Hard to top a masterpiece of the genre. Although Terry would say they are both wonderful in their own way.

      • I said the same thing on message boards before the “Lord of the Rings” movies came out. Lol. If there is one constant in the universe, it’s that nothing is ever “as good as the book” in a fan’s eyes. 😉

      • Shawn,

Loves what he and others have done…REALLY? To completely change the plot of the story? A door at the base of the Ellcrys…Wil fighting a Furies instead of a Reaper at Cephelo’s camp…the Silver River south of Arborlon…all false. Allanon’s character appearance alone was enough to make me want to swallow my index finger. Maintains the overall story…MY BUTT! They’ve completely changed the story and plot and completely ruined it in the process.

If Terry and you are both happy, then I say you’re both IDIOTS because ‘Shannara Chronicles’ is a complete worthless flop. No wonder it’s being aired on MTV channel…nobody else wanted it! I’ve been reading and loving Terry’s books ever since they came out (over 35 years ago). I’ve got the entire collection…and I’ll be the first to say that this is a major disappoint and a complete let-down to his loyal fans. HANDS DOWN!!!

        • I would say that a loyal fan would appreciate the fact that this is Terry Brooks’ story. We are not talking about something that was done without his involvement. Since it has been about 30 years since he wrote it there may very well be things he has thought about writing differently. Also, when a written story takes on a screen appearance it has a different audience. Things that reader will accept sometimes do not work on screen. I will press again that a loyal fan would appreciate the work as the author of the original story seems to be happy with it. To be honest I have enjoyed the first four episodes, but to be honest most people are way to critical of TV shows in general anyway. If you consider the time constraints most of them have to work with it is a wonder any show is better than a B Sci-Fi movie.

I don’t like that MTV has thought. I will agree on that point.

  2. I have been patiently waiting for this series to start. Now I am getting really excited. I have my DVR set up to record the entire series inorder to watch it over and over. This is a dream come true.

  3. OMG why is it that we in the UK/Ireland are always last to get anything decent on TV. All this time I’ve been waiting patiently for the series to come on MTV (SKY) but now that it has we STILL don’t get to see it yet. Any ideas how much longer we have to wait????
