Twitter Auction: Rare Shannara Box

Hi Brooks Readers,

This year has been tough on a lot of people–most are hurting, some are no longer with us. COVID19 is working its way through our populations and it is looking like more social distancing is needed to combat it.

Independent book stores and comic books stores are largely closed now. Those who own these types of stores already operate on narrow margins. Now those margins are gone. It is going to take a lot to get many of them reopened; it is going to take a lot to stop many of them from closing their doors for good.

That’s why a group of writers and comic book creators came together in a very cool way to help these struggling owners with the hardships of the present and future. They are donating geeky items, tuckerizations, pieces of artwork, etc. and auctioning them off on Twitter with all monies going to Book Industry Charitable Foundation. BICF helps struggling book and comic book businesses keep their doors open.

Terry and I wanted to help with this endeavor. Oddly enough, today is the anniversary of my mother passing and she was a huge Shannara fan. I have her Del Rey Books Shannara box and I’ve been trying to figure out a great way to honor her while helping others. She’d love that. So Terry is auctioning it off on his Twitter page, he will sign the copy of The Elfstones of Shannara that the box comes with, and I’ll mail it out to the winning bidder.

How do you bid? You have to join Twitter or be on it already, follow Terry at his account @TerryBrooks, and place your bid against other like-minded Shannara fans.

I love doing good for others. So does Terry. Even if you can’t bid and you are on Twitter, reTweeting the info would be great!

More soon!

Shawn
