CANCELLED: The below event has been cancelled due to the wildfires and resultant power outages in the Pacific Northwest that have affected Terry. We will reschedule it soon.
Authors Terry Brooks and Deb Caletti will join up for a Facebook Live conversation powered by Zoom on September 10 at 11 a.m. PT to talk about writing Adult and Young Adult fiction which are marketed and sold for one set of readers but transcend that limitation to be read by both.
ABOUT DEB: She writes young adult and adult fiction. She is a National Book Award finalist, and a Michael L. Printz Honor Book medalist, as well as the recipient of other numerous awards including the PEN USA finalist award, the Josette Frank Award for Fiction, the Washington State Book Award, and SLJ Best Book award. Caletti’s books feature the Pacific Northwest, and her young adult work is popular for tackling difficult issues typically reserved for adult fiction. Her first adult fiction novel, He’s Gone, was published by Random House in 2013, and was followed by several other books for adults, in addition to her many books for teens.

In addition, A Heart in a Body in the World was a PRINZ Honor Award winner, and several other books she has written have receive awards as well. We met via Seattle 7 writers and last year at Get Lit at the Beach, during which she was the feature speaker at our banquet.
Note the comment about her choosing to write about difficult issues typically reserved for adult fiction. Also note she has written to both adult and YA, although these days she is mostly YA.
The discussion will include speaking about challenges and rewards of their careers and both authors will take questions along the way. Please join an interesting look at who reads what and why in their worlds, and how and what they intend to write down the road.
Shawn Speakman will introduce and provide audience questions.
